How we choose
We list a grooming vacuum, a brush and a cheap roller because those are the three tools that make shedding cleanup quicker. We pick items with a long review history that were in stock with Prime when we checked. We show no prices, because Amazon prices change; the link takes you to the current one. We may earn a commission, and it never changes your result: the result comes from your three answers before any product is shown. Full editorial policy.
Questions
Why does my cat shed so much?
Cats lose old hair all year, and indoor cats often shed through every season. Long and thick coats lose the most. Shedding with bald patches, scabs, over-grooming or a dull coat is worth a call to your vet.
Does a brush or vacuum stop shedding?
No. Nothing you buy makes a cat shed less. A brush or a grooming vacuum only takes loose hair off your cat before it lands on your sofa, so cleanup is quicker, and your cat swallows less hair while grooming.
Will my cat accept a grooming vacuum?
Many cats do not. It is loud, reviews from cat owners are mixed, and a scared cat can scratch. That is why a brush is our first pick for cats. If you try the vacuum, start on the lowest speed and stop if your cat is scared.
Not veterinary advice. Shedding with bald patches, sores or sudden changes is a question for your vet.
